Standing Still at Kroger

I don't believe I've ever shopped for yogurt before. I remember my mom bought it for us a lot as kids, but I thought that perhaps it'd make a good snack or something when I got hungry around the house. So I worked my way down the refrigerated section against the back wall at Kroger, picking up my OJ and Milk, and then there I was - at the yogurt section.

"Well, this should be simple," I said to myself. "I'll just pick up a couple cups of my favorite flavors, and off I'll be." Oh, but it were not so simple. As I approached the yogurt section, I was overwhelmed by the pressure.

-"Hmm..." Kroger brand, Dannon, Yoplait, Gogurt, and GoCrunch.... and some other ones... "I remember seeing commercials for some of these. Which ones are supposed to be the best? Is there a difference?"
-Lo-cal yogurt vs. lite yogurt. "Is there a difference?"
-Yogurt with Oreos and Nestle Crunch bars- "Can they do that? I suppose that would make it taste better."
-Yogurt with granola - "Wouldn't that take away the appealing crunch of the granola?"
-Fruit on the bottom - "Is that supposed to be an appealing thing? That sounds kind of gross."
-Cylinder shaped cups, Volcano Shaped cups, Upside-down volcano shaped cups.... "This is so difficult!"
-Peach, Vanilla, Orange, Original, Blackberry, Strawberry, Banana, Strawberry-banana, Banana-strawberry, Orange-apple, Pineapple, Lemon, "COFFEE FLAVOR?!?"
-Individual packs, twin-packs, four-packs, six-packs, tubs, "family sized" tubs. "Why are the four packs more expensive per ounce of yogurt than the individual packs?" My head started spinning.

When I was able to regain my clear vision and my headache went away, I took my hand off the Dannon display and quit leaning against the yogurt shelf for balance. When I came out of my yogurt coma, I realized I had been there long enough to go through 2 songs on my ipod and had not even put one of those suckers in the cart, yet.

And then it happened. I glance to my left. I still had about 8 more feet of 5 yogurt shelves I had not even looked at yet. I closed my eyes, grabbed 4 from in front of me and threw them in my cart. I hobbled to the register, too exhausted to make my trip to the frozen food aisle. I just wanted to get back somewhere safe. No wonder my mom quit buying this stuff. I couldn't imagine having to spend that much time for yogurt for three kids.

Sounds like you had a dilemma and needed the foodie in your life to come to the rescue. I would go with the Dannon Activa in the green 4-pack. My favorite is strawberry, but since you don't like strawberries I would recommend vanilla. That way you can mix in fresh fruit (something else you seem not to like) and it will always be yummy...on second thought, maybe you shouldn't eat yogurt.

buying yogurt can be quite an exhausting experience. it's even more difficult when you have 2 people trying to agree on one type of yogurt...sheesh!

i tried organic for the first time the other day...a little expensive, but very delicious.

michael buys the family-sized tubs. i think fruit on the bottom is gross too.
